Blog Introduction

My blog is about the importance of integrating technology in K-12 classrooms. In my blog, I give several details about how students and teachers benefit from the integration of technology in the classroom. I started the blog because I believe that when teachers use technology in the classrooms they can capture students’ attention for longer periods of time. I also believe that students who use technology in the classroom grow tremendously because they can do a lot of drill practices on certain objectives. I suggest in my blog that teachers must be given the appropriate hardware and software to do an excellent job when integrating technology in the classroom. I have also included a video and a PowerPoint presentation that will help you learn more about integrating technology in the classroom.

Using Technology to Facilitate K-12 Instruction

The necessity of technology in the classroom is great in today’s schools.  The integration of the use of technology in the classroom should be a major part of teachers’ lesson plans.  District administrators must enforce and monitor that their teachers are using the latest technology with their students. Administrators should let their teachers know that the integration of technology in their lesson plans is nonnegotiable (Trevino, 2010).
In order for teachers to expose students to technology, administrators must provide teachers with the most current technology trainings available. Most importantly, teachers must have access to the appropriate technological tools needed to accomplish their job. These tools include the software and the hardware necessary to do a successful job with the students. With the support of administrators and teachers, students’ exposure to today’s technology will be excellent and inevitable (Trevino, 2010).
Today’s society has done an excellent job in exposing students to technology. Whether it is for recreational purposes or to simply accomplish a daily task, technology has become a great part of today’s youth. For example, many youths have become experts when it comes to playing any type of games that involve technology. Even to complete the simplest job such as using the self-checkout counter at the grocery store, today’s youth is able to handle the technology without any hesitation. For these and other reasons, teachers should realize of the great importance to use technology in their classrooms. Besides helping the students, the use of technology can help teachers do a more efficient and a better job. The integration of technology in the classroom is indispensable for teachers (Sethi, 2009).
Teachers need to understand that technology can greatly enhance their instruction in the classroom. With technology, teachers can show students excellent illustrations from the internet and also provide video and sound in their lessons. Furthermore, the use of 3-D simulations can motivate students to continue to investigate any content that they are curious about independently. The key is to present the lessons in a different way using technology instead of the teacher-led routine. If technology is planned and integrated properly in the classroom, teachers can maintain students’ focus longer (Sethi, 2009).
